The Challenge

London Luton Airport (LLA) has been delivering on its strong responsible business and community engagement strategy, and reporting to Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) for the past 4 years.

In 2022, LLA was able to achieve full marks, a 100% score for the first time. Despite challenging updates to the survey in 2023, the target was to maintain this impressive score.

Our Approach

Initially, we worked with the London Luton Airport Sustainability team to identify key changes to the 2023 GRESB survey, including the integration of climate-related risks and opportunities.

We worked with the team to ensure that its current strategy and reporting met the requirements and that the appropriate evidence was available.

We also supported LLA with both the management and performance components, ensuring that all question requirements were fully understood.

EVORA also completed a full audit of the survey to produce an estimated score and identify any possible areas for improvement.

Key Outcomes

London Luton Airport received another 5-star GRESB rating and a perfect (100/100) score in 2023.

This ranking also gave the airport the 1st place position and sector leader status amongst the ‘United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Airport, Maintenance and Operation’ peer group.
